The work is also one of the finalists for the Best Translated Book Award, sponsored by Three Percent blog, from the University of Rochester (NY).
The translation was made possible by the Support Program for the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors, held by Biblioteca Nacional (BN), an initiative that promotes the spread of Brazilian literature abroad.
Based on program data, Clarice Lispector emerges as the most requested author by foreign publishers, closely followed by Machado de Assis. Overall, the Support Program for the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors has sponsored 40 translations of works by Clarice Lispector to 16 languages in 20 different countries.
Among the titles, The Hour of the Star (1977) is the most requested, followed by A Breath of Life (1978), The Passion According to G.H. (1964) and Near to the Wild Heart (1943).
